Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has laid the foundation stone for India’s first Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based semiconductor manufacturing facility in Nava Raipur.

Developed by Chennai-based Polymatech Electronics, the ₹1,143 crore project aims to produce up to 10 billion chips annually by 2030.

This cutting-edge facility will cater to critical applications in 5G/6G, high-performance computing, defense, electric vehicles, and energy-efficient electronics.

GaN, a next-gen material superior to traditional silicon, enables faster, smaller, and more efficient devices—marking a significant leap in India’s semiconductor capabilities.

State officials believe the project positions Chhattisgarh as a rising force in the global semiconductor landscape. “This partnership will transform Chhattisgarh into a global hub for tech innovation,” said Rajat Kumar, Secretary of the Commerce and Industry Department.

India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) President Ashok Chandak praised the initiative, calling it a key milestone in India's journey toward semiconductor self-reliance.

“We commend the Government of Chhattisgarh for its forward-thinking policies and swift support. This is a major step toward India’s emergence as a global leader in semiconductors—powered by technology, talent, and trust,” he said.
