ePlane and ICATT Sign $1 bn Agreement to Launch eVTOL Air Ambulance Fleet in India
ePlane will provide ICATT with 788 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air ambulances.

The ePlane Company has entered into an agreement with the International Critical Care Air Transfer Team (ICATT) to enhance emergency medical services across India.
As part of the deal, valued at over $1 billion, ePlane will provide ICATT with 788 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air ambulances. This partnership represents the largest initial agreement in the rapidly growing eVTOL sector.
The collaboration is a strategic move following ePlane’s recent announcement of its plans to reshape urban air mobility through a partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). According to the ePlane Company, the e200x, their flagship eVTOL aircraft, will be the backbone of this air ambulance fleet.
The e200x is described as an ultra-compact, highly efficient vehicle that delivers safe, affordable, and sustainable air transportation, capable of operating in tight spaces, including rooftops or roadside fields.
Transforming Healthcare Accessibility in India
This innovative partnership is expected to dramatically improve India’s developing air ambulance network, addressing significant barriers to timely healthcare delivery in rural and hard-to-reach regions. Dr. Shalini Nalwad, founder of ICATT, emphasized that healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their location. “By integrating technology and healthcare, we ensure that no one is left behind,” she said.
ICATT's efforts aim to improve the transport of critical patients and enhance the speed of response in emergency situations. Dr. Nalwad also highlighted the importance of this collaboration in overcoming logistical challenges in organ transport, which often causes patient deaths. "This partnership will redefine access to healthcare in India and resolve these pressing issues," she added.
Improved Emergency Response with eVTOL Technology
The ePlane Company’s Prof. Satya Chakravarthy also spoke about the transformative nature of this collaboration. "This partnership represents a monumental step in expanding the reach and efficiency of aerial medical services across India," he stated. By utilizing eVTOL aircraft, the collaboration seeks to enhance emergency response times, ensuring faster access to critical care and bridging the gap between accident sites and medical facilities.
As urban air mobility continues to evolve, this partnership stands as a testament to the potential of eVTOL technology in revolutionizing emergency medical services. With the ability to land and take off quickly in congested areas, the e200x aircraft is set to significantly impact India’s healthcare system and improve patient outcomes across the country.
