Samsung and Google are reportedly working together to launch a new Android XR smart glasses as early as next year. While Google showcased the glasses in a closed-door demo at TED2025 and has remained noncommittal about a release, The Korea Economic Daily reports that Google and Samsung are co-developing the wearable, with Samsung planning a commercial rollout in 2026.

The smart glasses were first teased during the XR Unlock event at Google’s New York campus last December. At TED2025, Google VP Shahram Izadi publicly demoed the prototype, highlighting its Android XR capabilities—though details remain behind a paywall.

The glasses appear to be separate from Samsung and Google collaboration on “Project Moohan” XR headset, which is expected to launch later this year.

This collaboration marks another step in Google and Samsung’s joint XR ambitions, blending Android’s ecosystem with Samsung’s hardware expertise.

In February 2023, Samsung announced a collaboration with Google and Qualcomm Technologies Inc. to enter the XR device market, which is projected to surge from $131.5 billion in 2024 to $1.7 trillion by 2032.
