Google Slides Integrates Imagen 3 for AI-Powered Image Generation and New Productivity Features
Users can also create images in different aspect ratios (19:6, 16:9, 1:1) using the new "Create an image" feature.

Google Workspace recently announced that Google Slides will now integrate Imagen 3, its latest text-to-image generation model, along with several new feature updates.
“With Imagen 3, you can generate highly detailed, realistic images, including text and photorealistic images of people—not just in Slides, but also in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and more," Dennis Hu, Group Product Manager of Google Slides, shared in a blog post.
Users can also create images in different aspect ratios (19:6, 16:9, 1:1) using the new "Create an image" feature. The update also introduces AI-powered visual editing tools, such as background removal, with an upcoming feature allowing users to extend image backgrounds.
Another enhancement is the introduction of "building blocks," which enables users to insert pre-formatted, editable structures—such as custom quotes, key ideas, agendas, and statistics—into their presentations. According to the Workspace update blog, these blocks function similarly to those in Google Docs, allowing customization once inserted.
Google has also refreshed its library of ready-to-use templates, adding options for annual planning, client proposals, workshop facilitation, and more.
Further updates include new multimedia capabilities, such as embedding live video feeds directly into presentations and recording presentations for later sharing. The collection of stock and web media has also been expanded, offering a wider range of high-quality images, GIFs, and other visual assets.
