ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC India) has announced its plans to develop an AI-ready data centre campus in New Town, Kolkata, with an investment of ₹450 crore.
The 5.59-acre facility is designed to cater to the rising demand for AI computing, offering high-density rack configurations, advanced cooling systems, and scalable modular designs for high-performance workloads.

Empowering India’s AI & Digital Ecosystem
Bimal Khandelwal, CEO of STT GDC India, emphasised that the Kolkata campus is engineered to support India’s expanding AI ecosystem, facilitating startups, enterprises, and hyperscale cloud providers developing AI models. Its low-latency connectivity will enable seamless AI deployment across sectors.
Going live in Q2 2025, the Kolkata data centre will expand STT GDC India’s footprint to 30 data centres across 10 cities, offering a total IT load of 390 MW. Its strategic location in New Town’s Silicon Valley positions it as a key AI hub, serving enterprises, hyperscalers, and government organizations.
