Tableau Next Signals the Death of Dashboards With AI Agents Taking Over
At the heart of Tableau Next is Data Cloud, which powers intelligent data workflows and introduces automation in traditionally manual processes like data cleaning, transformation, and visualisation

Salesforce has announced Tableau Next, an advanced analytics platform built on its core ecosystem, aimed at revolutionising business intelligence through agentic analytics.
Originally introduced in preview last September as Tableau Einstein, Tableau Next is an AI-powered analytics platform that merges Tableau’s existing features with new capabilities from its parent company, Salesforce — including Agentforce.
Now available through the Tableau+ subscription, the platform is designed to automate routine data tasks, surface proactive insights, and empower users to take action directly within their existing workflows.
At the heart of Tableau Next is Data Cloud, which powers intelligent data workflows and introduces automation in traditionally manual processes like data cleaning, transformation, and visualisation.
The goal is to eliminate repetitive tasks while enabling faster, more actionable insights. The platform can autonomously detect correlations, outliers, and trends—delivering insights that may otherwise go unnoticed.
Key features include:
- Data Pro: An AI assistant that automates and recommends data preparation steps.
- Concierge: A conversational interface that answers data questions in plain language.
- Inspector: A tool that constantly monitors and surfaces meaningful data insights.
- Tableau Semantics: A semantic layer that unifies data for consistent analysis across the organization.
- Internal Marketplace: Allows users to share and reuse analytics components.
Tableau Next is designed to bring insights directly into existing workflows and business applications. By embedding natural language summaries, data-driven recommendations, and visualisations, users can engage with data where they already work.
The built-in workflow engine also enables automated actions, further accelerating the data-to-decision journey.
According to Salesforce, Tableau Next empowers users to collaborate with AI agents, significantly reducing the technical barrier to entry. Business leaders can interact with data using natural language and receive actionable guidance in return—without needing deep technical expertise.
“We’re shifting from basic reports to a world where AI is a collaborative decision-making partner. Tableau Next transforms data into an automated, proactive, and insight-driven cycle," Ryan Aytay, CEO of Tableau, said.
Availability:
- Tableau Next is available now via the Tableau+ SKU.
- Tableau Semantics is live, while Concierge, Data Pro, Inspector, and the Marketplace will roll out between June and late 2025.
