Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing Appoints K.C. Ang to Lead Chip Foundry Business

Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Tata Electronics Private Ltd, has appointed K.C. Ang, a seasoned semiconductor industry leader, to head its semiconductor foundry business.

The Tata Group has ventured into chip manufacturing under India’s Semiconductor Mission, announcing a $10-billion foundry project in Dholera, Gujarat, in partnership with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (PSMC). With nearly three decades of experience, Ang will oversee Tata’s chip manufacturing operations.

Previously, Ang served as President for the Asia Market at GlobalFoundries, a leading US-based semiconductor firm. According to Counterpoint Research, GlobalFoundries ranked as the world’s fifth-largest semiconductor manufacturer in FY24, holding 5% of the global chip market.

Randhir Thakur, Managing Director & CEO of Tata Electronics, stated that Ang will be responsible for driving manufacturing operations and collaborating with customers and ecosystem partners. He also emphasized that Tata is making steady progress toward launching operations at the Dholera fab.
